Hackensack Meridian Health has opened the Hackensack Meridian Health & Wellness Center at Paramus, providing convenient access to care in an outpatient setting. This new site houses the state-of-the-art Neuroscience Institute and its ALS clinic under the direction of Dr. Florian Thomas. This ALS Clinic opened with its first patient in July 2020 and offered the clinic once a month. There are now 55 patients and the clinic is held three times a month. Neurologists, Dr. Robert Connors and the newest physician, Dr. Jonathan Tiu round out the physician team at the clinic, together with Katie DeMarco, Clinical Supervisor and Palliative APN, and their highly skilled multi-disciplinary team.

Dr. Jonathan Tiu is a board-certified neurologist with a subspecialty interest in the field of neurorehabilitation. He received his medical training from Tulane University School of Medicine. He completed his Neurology residency training at New York University, followed by fellowship training in Neurorehabilitation at Washington University in St. Louis. He joined Hackensack University Medical Center in 2024, where he specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of ALS and other neurologic diseases.

The new center has cutting-edge rehab spaces, an infusion center for our patients, as well as multiple common spaces for meetings and consultations.Β The Clinic highlights the proven multidisciplinary approach providing patients access to a neurologist, all therapy services (PT,OT, SLP), dieticians, pulmonary, respiratory, nursing, and social work services all in one day. We at ALS United Greater New York share the excitement and pride of the Hackensack staff in this new phase of their provision of patient care.
